Custom Squarespace Booking Website for a Campervan Business
Squarespace custom website build, plus extras | Timeline: 4 Weeks
This project focused on a booking website for a campervan business in Inverness, Scotland. I build a custom Squarespace website, wrote the web copy, curated the colour palette, typography and images, and designed a handy custom brand style guide.
Paul needed a website for his new business. He offers campervan hire from Inverness for NC500 and Highland adventures using fully equipped VW pop-top campervans for families, couples and dog-friendly road trips. He came away with a professional website that makes booking a trip away, really easy.
The starting point
Paul felt stuck before working together. He knew the primary ‘job’ of his website, but he didn’t know how to bring all the elements together into a cohesive website. He felt overwhelmed and was worried that he’d end up with something that looked ‘home-made’, or that he’d put a lot of time and effort into it and it still wouldn’t be a ‘proper finished product’. He also didn’t have the time or headspace to do it properly with his busy schedule, so it was sitting on his list and not moving forward.
Goals for the website

The brand behind the site
Paul wanted the site to feel welcoming to all families and couples, inclusivity was important to him, and to bring a sense of the Scottish Highlands’ beauty to the site aesthetic. With these factors in mind, I curated a warm colour palette reflecting the land and skies of the Highlands. Imagery complemented the colour palette with warm and inviting images of people enjoying VW campervan life. I chose clean, easy readable, modern fonts with rounded letters with a friendly feel.
Paul wanted the site to reflect the look and feel of the Highlands, whilst also being modern, and not too busy. This informed my design decisions when designing layouts, curating images and choosing a colour palette. He also wanted visitors to feel at ease and welcomed, so this also informed the brand voice and messaging for the site. Everything was further enhanced with photos of Paul’s family and their campervan adventures and some of their back story.
How we worked together
We had our initial video discovery call where I asked various questions about his new business, his primary goal, vision for the future, and the kind of customers he wanted to attract. From my client questionnaire and follow up call, we dived more into his back story, the colours he liked, and how he wanted the website to feel for first-time visitors.
Our strategy session involved some deeper questions around what customers might search to find the website, what they might be asking themselves before booking and therefore should be answered on the site, his messaging, and how his brand origin story could differ from competitors.
From the strategy session, I developed the brand styling, received feedback and approval.
I carried out full copywriting and made tweaks based on the client’s brand voice and his feedback.
Once I added all content and built the site, we went over everything together before final approval was given.
The site was launched, files handed over and an offer for any specific video training.
What changed
After launch, Paul reported that he felt genuinely proud of his site. That it looked professional and trustworthy, and reflected the quality of the business. He felt that it looked like a proper brand, rather than a ‘work in progress’. He felt happy to share and send people to the site as the site looked professional, established, and credible. Once he had some of his own images, he later swapped out some of the original photos.
On a personal level, he felt ‘huge relief’ that it was off his to do list, and that it was clear and polished. Paul told me that his site is bringing in bookings and doing well.
A client testimonial from someone who didn’t have the headspace and time to tackle a website project
“If you’re thinking about working with Jane for your website, I honestly can’t recommend her enough. She’s been brilliant from start to finish.
I’ll be the first to admit I haven’t always been the easiest client, my schedule is all over the place and I’ve had to fit things in around work and family, but Jane has been endlessly patient and flexible, and she’s made the whole process feel easy rather than stressful.
What really stood out is her knowledge and expertise. Any time we hit something that felt complicated or technical, she’d explain it in plain English and then just calmly sort it. She has a real knack for taking what’s in your head (even when you can’t quite articulate it) and turning it into something that looks professional, polished, and properly “you”.
The end result is a website I’m genuinely proud of, it looks great, it works smoothly, and it feels like it matches the quality of the business. If you want someone who knows what they’re doing, communicates clearly, and delivers a cracking design without drama, Jane’s your person.”

“Before we worked together, if I’m honest, I felt a bit stuck.
I knew what I wanted the website to do, look professional, build trust quickly, and make it easy for people to book or get in touch, but I didn’t really know how to pull it all together into something that looked polished. It felt a bit overwhelming and I was worried I’d end up with something that looked “home-made”, or that I’d sink time into it and still not be happy with the end result.
I also didn’t have the headspace to do it properly with how busy my schedule is, so it was sitting on the list and not moving forward. Working with you basically turned it from a nagging job into a proper finished product.”
-
“Now I feel genuinely proud of it.
It looks professional and trustworthy, it reflects the quality of the business, and it’s actually easy for customers to understand what we offer and take the next step. Instead of feeling like a “work in progress”, it feels like a proper brand and a proper website that I’m happy to share and send people to.
And on a practical level, it’s a huge relief, it’s clear, polished, and it feels like it’s working for me rather than being another thing on the to-do list.”
-
“I think it’ll make a big difference, especially as a start-up.
When people are choosing a campervan hire company, they’re making a quick judgement on trust and professionalism, and the website is usually the first place they land. This updated look immediately makes us feel established and credible, which I’m sure will increase enquiries and bookings because people will feel confident putting their money down.
It also helps us stand out in a busy market. The site now clearly communicates what we offer, what’s included, and why we’re different, so customers don’t have to work to understand it. For a new business, that clarity and first impression is everything, it should shorten the decision-making time and turn more website visitors into paying customers.”
-
“Yes, absolutely.
You took what I was trying to achieve and turned it into something that looks professional, clean, and genuinely “on brand” for a start-up. The site now feels trustworthy and established, it’s easy to navigate, and it clearly shows what we offer and how customers can book or get in touch.
Most importantly, it feels like a website I’m proud to share, which was exactly the goal.”
-
“My favourite part was how easy you made the whole thing feel.
Even when I was busy or a bit all over the place with feedback, you stayed calm, kept things moving, and explained everything in a really straightforward way. Whenever something felt complicated, you’d break it down and then just handle it, which took a lot of pressure off me.
I also loved seeing the design come together step by step. It went from a rough idea in my head to something polished and professional, and that was genuinely exciting to watch.”
