Website Design Case Study: The Insight Space

What a joy itโ€™s been to create a new website for Ian Watson, owner of The Insight Space!

Nearly 20 years ago I owned a small business in the natural healing world of reflexology, reiki and aromatherapy, so it was great to be in that space once again.

Ian is a trained homoeopath with many years of experience in the field of natural healing and personal transformation. Ian provides education and training that doesnโ€™t just inform but empowers, heals and transforms.

Heโ€™s written several books and has appeared in countless interviews and podcasts. He offers online courses as well as various programmes and events.

The Project

Ian needed some help with redesigning his old Squarespace 7.0 website. He wanted a complete redesign to freshen things up. Ian has created a lot of fantastic content over the years and wanted all of this to be showcased to its fullest potential.

In addition, two additional websites needed content moving over to the new site. It was important to Ian that where possible, everything could be โ€˜housedโ€™ in one place.

Ian wanted to change his email management provider. It was important to him that visitors would be able to sign up for his Newsletter with ease.

The Solution

  • First off, I felt Ianโ€™s site would benefit from being moved over from Squarespaceโ€™s 7.0 platform to 7.1.

  • To freshen things up, I sourced several new and on-brand imagery for the site.

  • I changed fonts and colours to complement his brand.

  • An accessibility function was added for those that might want to tweak contrast, text spacing, animations, line height etc. when viewing the site.

  • To streamline Ianโ€™s email management tasks, I set up Squarespace Email Campaigns.

  • I created a handy Newsletter template that will act as a starting point for future Newsletters, as well as being visually in keeping with his site and brand.

  • Ian didnโ€™t have a logo or favicon to reflect his brand and so I created these for him.

  • On pages with a lot of content, I split the text into coloured blocks/sections to improve readability and overall user experience for visitors.

Below are two screenshots.

1. Ianโ€™s old website. 2. Same page but for the new website.

This really Illustrates how much easier the content can be viewed and read having split the text into distinct sections.

Results

Ianโ€™s content is now viewable in one place! This helps with his day-to-day productivity by keeping everything streamlined, it will make updating content much easier, plus make his content more convenient to access for his many followers.

Conclusion

Ian now has a totally new and updated website! His books, articles, interviews, podcasts, online courses, programmes and everything else, are now in one place. His logo, favicon, images, colours, and fonts all complement his business.

It's been wonderful working with Ian on this projectโ€ฆ Do visit The Insight Space and say โ€˜Hiโ€™.
