My lovely friend Louise Gale - a mixed media artist, asked me to participate in a little virtual weekly blog hop. This is something I've never done before, so I was more than happy to have a go and answer the questions put before me. You can see Louise's response to the same questions here.
So, why not have a little break and catch up on what I'm focusing my energies on at the moment... Are you sitting comfortably? lol. :)
1. What am I working on?
I've been really busy with facilitating my first ecourse entitled Embrace. There is one week left to go and honestly, I'm having the best time ever with this wonderful group of women. The next class begins on July 1, so please register if you don't want to miss out this next time around. I'm even offering a special discount if you want to do the ecourse with a friend. There is also the opportunity of purchasing Embrace as a self-paced/on-demand ecourse for those of you that prefer to dip in and out and take their time. Offering an ecourse that really speaks from the heart, has been a dream of mine for some time. I love the combination of art, journalling, reflection, photography and interviews.
I now have a FREE 1hr art journalling video that I have been working on and by subscribing to my blog posts, you will receive this video in your inbox. So why not get yours?
I'm also really excited to start on a new series of commissions shortly for a local hotel. I plan to show you some progress videos and photos of the work as they progress and then make a video with the paintings in situ and have a little chat with the owners of the business.
I also plan to offer an art ecourse shortly and have been producing a new style of work which I think will be fun, insightful and full of colour, vibrancy and meaning for anyone who wants to get creative and likes to journal. So, watch this space!
2. How does my work differ from others of it's genre?
I mainly work intuitively and because of this, my painting style changes depending upon what's on my heart. I also find that colours, subject matter and the way I go about creating, often changes depending upon what time of the year it is. Also, I wear my heart on my sleeve, so I often paint and create what I need to hear from 'that little voice within'.
My work very much stems from nature, gratitude for this wonderful planet and an overwhelming desire to spread love, joy and happiness wherever possible.
After having gone through some difficult times in life, I find art and creativity in general to be deeply healing and along with my faith have made me the woman I am today. As a result of this, I am incredibly passionate about helping other women uncover their creativity that is bubbling beneath the surface.
Lastly, I'm also very interested in reflective journal writing, self-compassion and self-image and as a coach the life changing differences we can make when we get clear about our dreams in life and business, our passions, purpose and goals.
3. Why do I write/create what I do?
Simply because I can't not 'create'. It's who I am and it informs so much of my life. For so long I ignored my need to create and self-express and it came at a big cost to my own health and well-being.
4. How does your writing/creative process work?
My creative process begins by a whisper of the heart - something that keeps on giving me a little nudge. It usually stems from some aspect of my life such as my family, a childhood memory, a prayer or something from nature. Other times it can be something I've read, a poem or a feeling. I always have my camera with me and so sometimes photos are a starting point too.
So thank you for your interest and taking the time to catch up with me...
Take care and have a fabulous week.
