Jennifer created the wonderful Moments Journal and you might well have heard and seen of her successful Kickstarter campaign that she recently completed. Jennifer has lots more projects in mind regarding her Journal, which she shares in my interview with her.

To give you a flavour for our interview, here’s a couple questions I asked her:

None of us like adversity, or trying circumstances but I’m curious about any strategies you call upon during these inevitable stages of life? Is it even possible to feel gratitude for these hard moments, if so, how?

I notice from your website, that you obviously love colour and beauty. How do you welcome ‘beauty’ into your every day?

So, as I enjoy some birthday cake (!!!), please head over to the classroom for a peek at Jennifer’s answers to my questions and don’t forget to enter the giveaway and/or use the discount code.

Invited Guests - The Art Of Contentment Online Class

The Art Of Contentment - Meet My Invited Guests

Today, I’m thrilled to share my guest list for my upcoming class entitled The Art Of Contentment that goes live on 1st January 2019. I have 12 amazing women who will be sharing on the topic of ‘contentment’ as creative women living in a busy world. Hear/read/see their insights for living a slower life and finding contentment from within.

You’ll be hearing from successful photographers, artists, coaches, designers and authors - how do they find contentment? I think you’re going to love this - art and soul combined!

The Art Of Contentment - Guests.png

Here’s what to expect from the class:

Let’s enjoy 2019 together as we paint through the year with soulful portraits and enjoy contributions from guests (and myself) on their insights for living a slower life and finding contentment from within.

Art helps us to switch off from the pressures of a busy world and enables us to reconnect with ourselves, refocus our priorities and slow down.

How It Will Work:

* Each month, I'll share with you a new and extensive soulful portraiture lesson. We'll be dabbling with various supplies and styles and creating paintings using acrylic, ink, watercolour, pastels, charcoal, collage, gold leaf, perhaps some clay and of course, using basic supplies such as graphite etc.

Along side the art, look forward to being inspired by other creative women and how they find contentment in a busy world. We’ll be hearing from talented artists, photographers, designers, writers and coaches - all with busy lives but with useful tips and heartfelt reflections to help you slow down. (See my amazing guest line up below)!

Make 2019 the year that you reconnect with who you are and what's important. Give yourself this monthly gift and watch how your year blossoms as you immerse yourself in portrait painting, slowing down, finding rest and discovering an inner contentment.

Please note: If you’d like to register, please click the button below (ps. early bird offer will end on 5th December - sale price currently £95 for the entire year)

Instagram Spotlight - Eugenia Loli Collage Artist

Today I'm sharing just some of the amazing work of collage artist - Eugenia Loli via another Instagram Spotlight

I'm continuing to explore all things collage whilst revisiting my class Fragments Of Joy and just had to share Eugenia's work with you.  Not only is Eugenia a collage artist but she is also an illustrator and film maker (her background is technology).  Eugenia is from Greece but has lived in California for many years.

I find her work to be inventive, entertaining, intelligent and well, brilliant!

This is what Eugenia says about her work:

It’s important for me to “say” something with my artwork, so for the vast majority of my work there’s a meaning behind them. I usually do this via presenting a “narrative” scene in my collages, like there’s something bigger going on than what’s merely depicted. Sometimes the scene is witty or sarcastic, some times it’s horrific with a sense of danger or urgency, some times it’s chill. I leave it to the viewer’s imagination to fill-in the blanks of the story plot.

Below are just some of my favourites:

* The 'Cosmic Ballerinas' are part of the 'Worshipped Women' series and I love them!

* The Farscapes series includes Rising Mountain (top row, middle) and Sea Poppies (third row, far left) aren't they brilliant - love the vintage feel to them too.

More Titles:

Unconscious Experiences (second row, left).

Let me get that for you (second row, far right)

Element 115 (third row, middle)

The Oh, L'Amour series is fun and I've included one collage from that series (bottom row, far left).

As an aside, I also love the titles of the collages - they make you think...

So, I hope you've enjoyed that burst of inspiration from collage artist, Eugenia Loli - please visit her and thanks for visiting me.

Take care,

Jane x

Painting Prompts For Summer When You Have 10 Minutes!

Painting Topic Ideas...

painting suggestions for summer.png

If you've enjoyed this post, I'd be thrilled if you pinned it - just click the image.

I hope you're enjoying this new month; in fact, at this exact moment, I'm actually typing this in our garden - yay!  Today I started my 30 days of prompts for my gentle art challenge and thought perhaps you'd also enjoy some flexible painting prompts that will only take 10 minutes (or longer if you wish) to complete.

I'm all for creating whenever I can and sometimes 10 mins is all I've got and so it's helpful to have what I'm going to paint already taken care of - hint, look below for the prompts.

The Anglo-Saxons called June “sera monath” (dry month).
#CreateJuneHappy2018-8.png

You may have school aged children who are home for the school holidays already (hello, US friends) or perhaps little ones who like to paint with Mum regularly.  I know when our boys were a little younger, I really enjoyed looking at the Artful Parent and the wonderful resources there.

I find painting quickly and without too much expectation helps shake my 'real' artwork up and helps me keep nimble; on my toes.

So whether you're joining in with the challenge (please use #createjoyfuljune2018 so we can find each other), or not, I hope you might try some of the Joyful June prompts and see where they take you and please consider popping by Instagram where you can see how the prompts are unfolding for me and I can for you... :)

Until next time...

Jane xo
