I wanted to share with you all my new painting entitled 'Star bird' and to chat a little about the deeper meaning behind it.
Sometimes when life tries to suck you dry, I find it comforting to know that there is a bigger picture (to what I'm seeing) and whilst we may not be always aware of it, it's still the truth. There are a number of tough situations on my radar at the moment and sooner or later it usually becomes obvious that you just can't handle it in your own strength even though you sometimes think you can - eventually realisation hits (thank goodness).
So getting back to the painting, I get the feeling that I'm the bird and I'm trying to make sense of this life by looking toward the stars - ie. God.
He counts the stars and calls them all by name.
- Psalm 147:4
I love what art does for the soul. How it pushes me to see and feel the situation as a whole. Often it doesn't always become fully clear until the painting is finished and I sit with it for a while but other times (like with Star Bird) I instinctively know and take much comfort and healing from it. I know when I paint and maybe you've noticed this too, that I often feel very close to our Creator and it never ceases to amaze me. What a blessing we all hold at our fingertips...
